Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the difference between UX and UI, and do you do both?

Yes, I handle both. UX (User Experience) focuses on how a product works and how users interact with it, while UI (User Interface) is about the visual design and layout. I bridge both to create products that are intuitive, functional, and visually appealing.

What’s your process for starting a new design project?

I typically start with research and discovery—understanding user needs, business goals, and technical constraints. From there, I move through wireframing, prototyping, user testing, and finally, polished UI design ready for development.

Do you do user research and usability testing?

It depends on the project. Typically, the clients I work with supply me with initial user needs and I create designs to support those. Initial testing begins with sharing mockups and clickable prototypes with clients. Clients may be a single person or a team and will review mockups and prototypes and send me feedback.

Once features have been refined in the design phase my development team will build out features in a testing environment before deploying to a live production environment. The sandbox environment is an opportunity for clients to test drive features and offer feedback if needed.

Features are approved then deployed to production where users have access. We receive and collect user feedback and work with the client to prioritize refinements as they come up. Generally, this amounts to adjusting label titles to improve clarity or making information stand out more to improve findability.

Over time, feedback will lead us to new features or adjusting the roadmap to prioritize highly-requested features.

Sometimes, we do have access to groups of people and we conduct interviews to get unique insights that help guide features and user flows.

Can you redesign the user experience (UX) and interface (UI) of my current app or software?

Yes! I often have clients come to me with designs they’re unhappy with; either they’re ugly, incomplete, or do not represent what the client asked for. I will redesign their app to make them more intuitive, user-friendly, and do the thing the client actually wants.

How do you ensure your designs are accessible and responsive?

Accessibility is built into my process from the start. I follow WCAG guidelines, use contrast and readability best practices, and design with responsiveness in mind for all devices.

What tools do you use for design and prototyping?

Primarily Figma and Adobe Creative Suite for UI design and prototyping. I also use tools like FigJam, Notion, and Trello for collaboration,

Do you collaborate with developers and product teams?

Yes, I work closely with developers and stakeholders throughout the lifecycle. In addition to my role as the UX/UI designer at a software agency, I am a product manager and project manager. I am involved with custom design and development from end-to-end and understand how all the phases are connected. I marry creativity with practicality! I’m comfortable working in agile and cross-functional environments.

Can you help define product features or roadmap priorities?

Definitely. My job is product strategy and delivery—translating user feedback into feature ideas, prioritizing MVPs, and aligning UX decisions with business goals. I am involved in app delivery end-to-end.

Do you also manage the product or just the design side?

I manage both the product and design sides. This experience and awareness makes me a stronger designer and manager. As a manager and designer, I know exactly what both sides need and how to get them and communicate with the development team.

What types of projects or industries do you specialize in?

My work spans SaaS, e-commerce, creative tools, and digital products. Every project I work on is different and includes industries like healthcare, food tours, data management, rentals, automotive, and more. I have a reliable process that brings projects, regardless of the industry, from vision to market.

How can I work with you or start a project?

You can reach out via email to discuss your project needs or potential roles. I’m open to freelance, contract, or full-time opportunities, depending on the fit.
